Once upon a Time in New York City

Beauty on Water by Torgny Lilja

Here I am sitting in the summer heat
With evening shadows on my sunburnt face,
While in bikini, cooling her bare feet
Or from a leaning pose, she shows true grace.

Whenever I am resting by the stream,
These waves are slowly whispering to my ear...
Like costly jewels, I can watch them gleam
From many miles away, or very near.

At dusk, they still reflect some kind of light
And then begin to spread the morning glow,
When dawn withdraws the curtains of the night.

From well-known places, where the waters flow
Forever, our souls will soon be gone,
But for a while we have to carry on.
